A Scenic Train Ride Through the Vouraikos Gorge
It is a drizzly day in the Peloponnese Mountains and the train protects us from a brief downpour as it takes us through the oh-so-pretty Vouraikos Gorge.
Lunch at the Trout Farm in Planitero National Park
We are starting to get used to Greek meal times: breakfast, mid morning snack, late lunch, late dinner. So when at 2:30 our tour family stops at an oasis hidden among the trees with the fresh spring water by the Rigogiannis Taverna and Fish Farm Kalavrita we are ready for the local delicacies they have waiting for us.
|
After lunch, we welcome free time to experience the refreshing coolness under the trees with the gurgling springs that feed the Aroanios River.
|
Into the Menolan Mountains, a 5:00 arrival in Lagadia gives us free time to explore before we join the group for dancing 90 minutes later. It's still cloudy but the rain holds off and we head out into Lagadia. It is a traditional mountain village considered a masterpiece of stone, harkening back to when talented stonemasons lived here. There is one narrow main street through Lagadia which we explore with a local cat escort below.

Dancing The Night Away in Lagadia*Lagadia is the same as Lagkadia. Danae used Lagadia so we do as well. Many locations in Greece have various spellings.
|
We meet across the street from our hotel at 6:30 for traditional Greek dancing at the Maniatis Bar. We have so much fun burning those calories with our tour family!

🤩 CUE A WOW MOMENT 🤩
Smiling, clapping, and dancing.
Traditional dancers welcome us to Lagadia.
Soon the whole gang is circling the dance floor counting 6 steps and 2 kicks.
